Has anybody been able to get a meter installed without a contract from the big six energy suppliers? We have put in a 3 phase ,69 A supply and need a meter and have had a favourable supply quote from Octopus energy but they cannot supply a meter , all meters seem to come with a contract which is far more expensive than Octopus, £4k infact. Anyone able to help?

do you have a Mpan number ? new meters are less than £100, getting it fitted with a Mpan number is the hard part and be careful they want to put you on half hour metering if they can which is very expensive, would have thought the local network company would have supplied you with a meter on their standard tariff which you can then change from

Western Power gave me a Supply number which I presume becomes a Mpan number when a meter is fitted. Our supply size is below that where half hour is required. Both firms I have spoken to say it can only be fitted with an annual contract,if it was domestic it would be rolling 28 days. The independent firm wanted £1k to fit the meter, then npower would supply electricity but you had to sign up without knowing the tariff!

It is a nightmare, I had a shed rented out to a company that were on half hour billing, when they left EDF told me a load of lies about the charges and sent me a bill for £170 a month with no electric used, I wanted it derated from 400amp 3phase to 100 amp three phase, sse are our local network supplier and its taken from last July to last week to get it sorted, all they had to do was pull out the large fuses and put in smaller ones, would think I was asking for the moon.

Watching this with intrest.
Ive been quoted for 2 meters/smart meters, half hour billing hideous amount of money.
Talking to my electrician(who fits export meters for solar) about it.
He rang up the wholesaler and was quoted 1/3rd of the price for the meters albeit standard ones.
Talking to my energy broker he told me that you could get them fitted by my electrician but he has to sign on the national database, which he has had no success with.
I have MPAN numbers, question is do i go ahead with my electrians then inform electric company or leave myself open for a right royal rodgering by the preferred installer c/w 1/2 hour billing etc:scratchhead:

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
