“Anyone responsible for a drone or unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft)* weighing between 250g and 20kg will need to register as an operator. The cost for this will be £9 renewable annually.”

Yep....and exactly one week ago DJI announce their new Mavic Mini “foldable” drone which has a design weight of....249g

rules eh....

Gotta smile at that!! Talk about chasing an ever moving target.

Plenty of those being sold for Christmas I expect....!

Anyone dodgy or dishonest is not going to register. So it’s all a bit pointless. As usual.

They'll promote the 249g version as "registration free".....


Until the 250g requirement is dropped in six months....after thousands of "registration free" drones have been sold to existing drone users upgrading to avoid the regs.

I wonder if they'll have a van going round that can "detect" drones...?
