NEW Direct drill on the scene

had this drill on demo last week and was very impressed!

Good. Someone here has first hand with it now. Curious, if one has very dry and hard soils in half the field and easy penetrating soils in the other, how does this drill maintain consistent depth if any other closing disk is chosen over the smooth roller?

I really link the 4 pin leveling system and the opener frame seems robust. However, I wonder how tall, stripper harvest residue will flow as the components on the opener frame are quite close together?

We drilled wheat into a 3 year old stayed off red clover key which was medium loan soil.did a great job.also drilled kale into a wheat stubble which is hard sandy soil.put the seed in the ground and closed the slot perfectly.simple and easy to adjust and build really well.

Bit late on this one, got a bit distracted last Autumn, but the yield according to the farmer was 2.2 tons, which he seemed more than happy with, we also drilled some spring Wheat at Lamport (next door to Agrovista trial plots, around 30 area excluding headlands which were just too wet even at the end of April. Yield of 3 tons and with very little blackgrass, drilled after winter covercrop of black oats etc, before and after pictures below;

If i didn't have a gd, this would be the drill I would have. Saw it last year at groundswell was doing a v good job like the weaving, everything else seemed pretty average especially the xslot

What's notable is the mat of dead cover crop and grassweeds in the bottom. This field has only had a sniff of ally + starane, a fungicide + manganese and some nitrogen. No blackgrass, brome or wild oats evident, that's where the real benefits lie, imo.

D Day! According to the weighbridge, the field being drilled in the pic above did 2.7t/ac of Canyon spring oats. #pleased Storm a week before harvesting didnt make them look very pretty, and shed a little yield, which was unfortunate. 1.3t straw to the acre too, and pretty much a clean stubble after.

Cover was mustard, with a little Linseed, combi drilled into shakerated wheat stubble. The field over the hedge was combid mustard into discing, bit too wet really, slumped and capped badly, cover was no better (probably worse) than natural regeneration. Ma-Ag drilled that one as well, should of put more seed on to compensate for the anaerobic conditions. It yielded 1.8t/ac. Not done the sums on it yet, but it didnt have much spent on it. Lesson learned re covers. Normally the cover would be sown with our Kockerling drill, but it had an unfortunate meeting with a big rock and needed landwheel/gearbox surgery at the time.
