New farm, the journey begins!

Should finish the cattle race roof tomorrow, have more rail arriving tomorrow as well. My days of slopping around in mud working cattle are disappearing fast.

Finished yay 😀 , will get some flashing for between race roof and shed and front edge. Will also need to bend up valleys in corrugate on high side, must be a tool for this?

my new favourite saying is copied from the Massey man on YouTube, looks smart to be fair!! I pi@@ myself laughing when he says that.

Another 2 slings of 115mm rail turned up today so will start stitching them on tomorrow before rain.

Dam is low been a dry winter, this would normally be full and drain flowing.

I’m praying for a dry summer as I have levelling to do and drier the better.

Howdy all, well I’ve ticked something off my bucket list, bought a new tractor and it’s arrived last Friday, been pretty wet so having a play is limited, but I must say I do like.

M

Good features
The dyna 6 with auto shift is awesome, no range lever thank god!!
Brake to neutral, it’s like a forklift, that’s handy in the hay job or loader work
Overall lighting
Can suspension, took it for a wrap up the road, pretty smooth
Doors either side of cab, being a fuss pot I blew cab out the other day and having both doors open is gold
Max min rpm can be set
Trans smoothness taking off changing direction is miles ahead of jd
6.6 litre tier 2 purrs like a kitten.
Floor slopes off a touch either side good for cleaning
Lower Grab handle to get into cab so not yanking on door glass.

dislikes
Side lighting could be be better but it’s a standard tractor
The plastic colour below seat needs to be dark colour to not show scuff marks from feet
I’m not sure if rear side fender extensions available but looks not.

40k cheaper than standard jd 6140m.

Considering how I started and most do, pretty impressed to have it.

Ant 😊

Random question but are you selling some stuff on Farm Tender?
Yes, I sold my header, just have land leveller to go as I want to go wider with leveller to speed up process and cut hours on new tractor.

header I got near what I paid in 2015, I won’t use here very often and parts can be a drama post covid.

I’ll wait a couple years then see if I can’t jag a 9770 with a 35ft Draper

Yes it's amazing the second hand market atm. Almost better buying new if you can afford it.

I'm bit sad like that, I noticed your Ute and the listing location though maybe it was you.

it was a no brainer to buy new in that hp range with loader. I didn’t need 140hp but that extra stability lifting and stacking big squares will be much appreciated.

Along with warranty and not having to service it when I got it, saves a bit of time.

I’d love to do silver stone one day, I’m at spa for the 3 days. Staying about 40km away at an air bnb in the country side, should be nice I so need a break.

unloaded some hay the other day with new tractor and the auto shift is absolutely mint, plus brake to neutral is also very handy.

I think I will order a 4m ILGI land plane tomorrow while at airport.

That will cut down some hours when leveling.

seems cheap enough. From personal experience either a longer tongue or wheelbase makes for a smoother job.
