Agents picked up 11 x 202kg (3 black baldies and 8 angus( from hamilton store sale today, $740hd or 3.68kg, poor buggers just havent been fed so got them in sick bay paddock, some feed, drenched and fly treated, quiet little buggers, ill polish em up and they can go with my lower weight draft in octoberish.

Target will be 440kg ish, mid feeder weight for feedlot.

Fair chance tomorrow or sat morning all the fence posts for internal fences are knocked in, we been going well. I habe some serious wiring up to do for a couple of weeks.

Betty n bangles have taught the calves to use shelter in sick bay paddock, very pleasing to see after busting my hump to build it.

Hopefully have big sqaures here next week for wind protection.

Meant to be 39 degrees next Saturday with storms so will be a nervous day fire wise.

Mortlake store sale today, alot of rough underdone cattle, no northern or Gippsland buyers, so was cheap.

Im pretty much full but i got 4 x 132kg angus steers sept drop, from a farmer i know, for $390 per head, and 2 black baldies for $542 per head, well bred, farm out of feed

Alot of 250 to 300kg steers were 2.50 to 2.70kg...way off recent sales, but also qaulity lacking in alot of lines.

The two baldies are the same weight as my last lot from hamilton 202kg, the 4 lights are in minis old pen just to keep close eye on them.and fill up on feed before eventually going in with others.

One more day of 39 degrees then the cool change hits thank da lord, ive been keeping busy in mornings and then keeping stock and fire watch all day...in the ac where i can get it...

The 4 calves are doing well, one with pneumonia is recovering after treatment, they go in the lane for a wander morning and night when cooler...they are happy and very quite when in with them not skitish.

Tues to sunday will be hanging up hinge joint, and normal farm jobs, pulling out old fence lines full of barb wire etc

Hoping to get some showers in amongst it.

Its amazing where some clover will grow of zero rain? Has held on best here compared to grass.

Bring on autumn.

Well we survived 3 days of 39 degrees c witha hot northerly.

Finally can get back onto fencing.

I did manage to get a few jobs done as progress always seems to be slower than i like.

Its nice to have the cattle yard lane intersection looking a bit better, i will build a perm cattle rail wall here in a few years, gates will.do for now.

Hopefully have a shearer here Wednesday for sheep, ive always done it but too much to do and cant risk a back injury.

As an Old bugg"r, I find this fasinating that you chaps from the other side of the planet can be chatting away as if you were next door to us pomme`s (oops, is this allowed now)
Really enjoy seeing what hassles you are up against, but seeing the sunshine is a downer,
When my rellies moved to your spot in 1967/8 for £10, it took them 6 weeks to get there ha ha, and the same to get a letter posted back.
Hope you all keep on posting (y)

Power harrow my front paddock this arvo, was very badly pugged, seeded in 25kg of jivet annual ryegrass and some old antas clover seed. Rolled it, not perfect but a quick fix improvement until full reno.

Had the pleasure of driving my 3350, the legend John, what a machine.

Had 22mm and place is greening up, more coming next week, all cattle are doing well and the green pick will hopefully bounce up growth rates until mid winter.

I have put some big straw sqaure bales.on paddock under tres as a trial, cattle havent been eating them etc so good so far.

Crickets gone mad here so thats next focus and then fert spreading and seeding renovation paddock, hopefully will have some feed and will chase broad leaf weeds this year.

Planning to take some winter time off and try finish weld out on cattle yards.
