I'm just checking this with the teamWhat is the reason for excluding strip till drills from the “direct drill” grant?
2020 price before steel rocketed
IAE, fixed handling setup (cattle) £13000 Bateman was more from memory.
Current grant total £3866
40% of the above £ 5200.
plus you need to factor in fitting it costs and concrete etc.
Can't justify the outlay on small Hill farm
A complete IAE fixed cattle handling system excluding crush that we put in in 2012 was 7.5k.......2020 price before steel rocketed

A lot less aggravation by my reading of it.This is what we in England have to compete with, a new farm scheme in Ireland 150 Euros for the first 10 suckler cows 120 Euros for the rest.
What do we get?

Of course we have the simplified ELMS scheme whatever they finally decide it will be, less aggravation?A lot less aggravation by my reading of it.
Do you think that a better use of this money would be for Co op to be set up in areas where this machinery /tools could be shared used by the many rather then funding the suppliers with sales many machines /tools that don't get fully utilised I'm sure France has this system in placeHi Jo - not yet but will share that info asap
20% free is better than nothing though?Just had a very brief look through the items and costs and i think your a little behind the times with what things cost now! When the last grants were on manufacturers pushed there prices up and along with rise in steel prices and other costs some items wont even be 20% aided.
The tines? Isn't one for weeding amongst crop whereas the grass harrow is for grass. What’s the difference between a comb Harrow and a grass Harrow?
Ok cheers I will look closer at tine designThe tines? Isn't one for weeding amongst crop whereas the grass harrow is for grass.
Ok cheers I will look closer at tine design
Not really because if it wasn’t for these schemes the prices wouldn’t have been inflated by that much (before the steel price rise on top) and you could have bought the stuff straightforwardly without filling in forms and jumping through hoops. We bought alot of the items listed 4-5 years ago for way less than the price they are now with the help of a grant.20% free is better than nothing though?
We’re the welsh not getting 50-60% grants on direct drills and sward lifters when we couldn’t in England?Mechanical Weeding - OPICO Products
Mechanical weeding is a commercially viable means of herbicide-free weed control for both organic and conventional farmers, reducing chemical usage.products.opico.co.uk
Grass Harrow - OPICO Products
The angle of the tine combined with the harrow's overall design makes it ideal for stimulating new grass or renovating old pastures. Transform the way you work your grass.products.opico.co.uk

Been looking at a sward lifter that I've now discovered I can't get any money for cos I'm Welsh!
Grants should be paid for new silage pits so farmers can reduce plastic use on balesOn underground irrigation: I wouldn't rule it out, but we'd need to talk about the details - I'd recommend you get in touch directly with RPA who will be able to help with that
The next 'improving farm productivity' round is expected to focus on automation and robotics, so it wouldn't cover grain stores. However we're also planning an 'adding value' round where this would likely be covered - further details will come on that as soon as they're ready. I'll share here when we publish that info too.
