Ok
Why? I use cycle lanes when painted on the road but not when they are on the footpaths as they are not safe for myself or the pedestrians sharing them.
Would you like to walk your toddler on a shared footpath with cycles doing over 20mph?
We cycle for fitness so need to push on to keep the heart rate up before you mention slowing down.
I guess car drivers feel as angry when they get held up behind our tractors.
Why can't we just all get on?
Idiots in and on all types of vehicles.
I ride bikes, motorbikes and drive cars, motorhome, tractors, combines and articulated trucks.
I have experienced like most of us have idiots on and in all.
sorry but the vast amount of public funds directed at a specific group of people who do not actually intend to use the resource created is fundamentally wrong - especially when it has been done with their safety in mind.
Here in Leeds vast swathes of road widening have taken place with millions being wasted installing separate cycle lanes. My son is a cyclist. There are a number of roads such as the A659 from Harewood to Pool in Wharfedale which he no longer uses as it is just too dangerous. Cyclist also have a duty of care to themselves let’s not forget. New changes to the Highway Code do nothing but strengthen cyclists belief that they are invincible.
I am also a cyclist but stick to canal towpaths and disused railway lines, quite often doing in excess of 20 miles. If you don’t want to burn your fingers then don’t stick them in the fire.

What with all these more rights than you groups and green lobbyists trying to ‘save’ the planet with fake science this world is becoming a poor place to live. Whatever happened to normal folk.

The new rules have made me review every aspect of what I do , cycling and driving , a regular cyclist is well aware of the consequences if he has an accidentent and will try his best to avoid it , I know I do
Basically there is far to much garbage being written on social media and in the press

Have a job towing a 3000 gallon tanker, over the summer there were large numbers of cyclists out on the road, due to the weight its very hard to overtake as you need such a long straight and no traffic. So there's no option but to just sit behind them. Only about 20% are willing to pull over, some I've followed for miles. Had a few trying to wave me past when I knew there wasnt a hope only for them to get irate and hurl abuse.

Then you've got Cars overtaking not realising there are cyclists in front, often into on coming traffic having to try and slot in infront. A small number of cyclists are responsible and will pull off the rest seem to be in a world of there own.

This is totally ridiculous and sums it up

The biker is in the wrong going up a one way street the wrong way I get that , but was there any need for the car driver to make a big issue of it , plenty of room for them both to pass ,
But both total idiots

The Dutch are well and truly baffled by the term "Dutch Reach". They don't have it in the Netherlands ~ according to acquaintances in the Netherlands, that is.

Totally agree on shared footpaths.

Its a shame there isnt more laws aimed at cyclists, constantly ride roads with lines of traffic behind them that cars carnt even get passed let alone ag machinery and hgvs. Tractors are required to pull in but most of the time they are travelling faster than bikes plus a cyclist could dismount nearly anywhere and re join much easier than a tractor ever could. I appreciate that some cycle to travel to work which seems abit more worth while because they need to but all these riding round for the fun of it really isnt necessary, ime not saying the shouldnt be there but should be required to give way to everyone else a tractor may be holding people up but hes there because he needs to be

Cyclists should be the same as tractors, they have to pull in at the earliest available point if they are holding up a long queue.

And I do cycle.

Today while driving a truck on a busy A road I followed a group of 12/15 cyclists in a pack. I followed them for a nearly three miles there was no break in oncoming traffic to attempt an overtake . Eventually there was an opportunity and i passed them, if I had been loaded it would'nt have been possible
A 1/2 mile down the road there were some temporary lights i had to wait at the red light . They all passed me rode through the red light and the cones. I caught them up and followed them for another mile until there was a dual carriageway to get passed them again
