New Holland 7050 PTO problem

Have an elderly 7050 used just for fert spreader work. The problem is the PTO will not restart after it it turned off. The engine needs shutting down each time, "to reset something" and then the PTO will work fine. Sounds an electrical issue somewhere, any thoughts ?

PTO brake solenoid, easy cheap repair.

There is a work around you can do to keep going if it completely fails mid way though a job.

Engine off, press the PTO brake button and start the engine whilst still holding the PTO brake. Then start the PTO and let go of the brake button.

My 7050 sometimes fails to start the cooling fan causing the tractor to overheat and power de rated itself.
Service engineers have been out to it several times and just cannot seem to find the problem.

It is one of those intermittent problems that never happens when they are here!

They say that if you follow the wire back to a plug on to of the engine and pull the plug apart, the fan should run all the time, but it doesn’t!
In other words, power going to fan electric clutch ‘should’ disengage drive.

So, I’m wondering if it is a faulty clutch mechanism.

If I stop the tractor and let it cool down for 5 minutes, the fan will then engage and it will be fine for the rest of the day. Less than 5 minutes and it just wont reset itself.

…..Any thoughts welcome.
