New Holland TS115 SLE - Intermittent gear display lights

Hello

I have a New Holland TS115 with an SLE type gearbox. Just recently the tractor has developed an intermittent problem. Every now and again, however becoming more frequent, the gear display lights 5-6-7-8 go off whilst operating the tractor. When they do so the gear display on the dash also goes off and reads blank. The tractor will still continue drive in every gear and the lights may come back on. The problem is that when the lights and the display are off, if I clutch and go from 4th to 5th the tractor instead selects 8th rather and 5th. I can only presume that this is something to do with the speed matching feature introduced on the later gearbox's.

Stopping and then starting the tractor does sometimes seem to resolve the problem, however it does make driving the tractor, particularly when doing haulage work very difficult.

With so many possible things that could cause this problem I am lost at where to start, so any advice would be very much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Right hand side of transmission. They are there to tell the processor the position of the selector rails. So if the processor doesn't know the rail position is it will default to top gear when the 4/5 change is made.

I see, so when you say on the right hand side, do you mean at the top of the transmission, around where the cable from the power shift leaver connects to the selector?
