After 11 months of never ending sodding rain horiffic looking crops, crashing comodities. Tb spread, schmallenberg why on earth not dip into this 400m and help the sector.
A one off extrodonary weather payment.
It would do a lot more good than rolling it over and spending it on robotic silage pushers.
Whats the point if it cant be used when needed.........over to you defra

agree - this year is the perfect storm of low grain prices, high interest rates and utterly impossible weather. - it will create a false take up of sfi as it’s the only option left for some and that will impact the next 3 yrs. It will be the final straw for a lot of farms financially as well i suspect

DEFRA need to understand this - no point offering grants or designing schemes etc if there are no farms left !

if ever there was a case for a one off extreme trading difficulty payment it’s this year. ……… and it just so happens they seem to have 400 million spare !

the important figure is additionality which has been circa 0.1% / year

there is no payment for storage, just sequestration
Which makes it complete bollox because consumers are led to believe fossil carbon certificate actually offset the carbon indefinitely removed from underground storage…. I don’t blame you taken the money for your part but the whole premise is dishonest miss selling.

Generate the credits but don't take the cash! Carbon credits are worth less per Ha than the SFI DD payment... just not worth the agro... It is only mis selling if you sell them..bugger that for a game of soldiers!! I want to tell the supply chain to "Do One" by 2030... Just because you play the "woke virtue signalling" game doesnt require you to actually be that business!!

ignore a valuable new source of income if you like …….. or simply wait for processors and supermarkets to come take it from you for free as they will happy take the profit if you don’t want it

demand exists, only a fool would ignore opportunity

How do i make the big money from burying biochar below 10cm if some cowboys own the ransom strip above 10cm in my soil! TOP SOIL needs to remain dynamic.. Sub Soil carbon dioxide removal is where the real magic happens... Game on....

Put the money into sorting rivers and get the drainage sorted ,it will benefit everybody. Not handing money grants to those who could buy outright while most can’t afford the 60% to buy something just to get 40% on something they can manage happily without.

Don't matter how much money you throw at EA for rivers they will never sort the job cos it's not in their DNA to sort it , they want it to go to sh!t and overgrown 🤷

Consumers are not fools but are being fooled to believe the company they are paying a premium to for carbon offfsetting is making some meaningful contribution, it aint. It’s no different to VW emissions cheating, consumers being sold a complete lie. Such lies have a habit of coming back to bite those connected to them.

I could grow dope as a valuable source of income but I’m not comfortable with the ethical position of doing do.
