Looking at a bit more output. Have a 2 drum pz 1.65 just now and it's getting monotonous and falling to pieces. Prob 30 years old so definitely had our money's worth. Like the simplicity of drum so see kuhn/pz do 4 drum mower at 3m. Anyone any experience of these? Don't need a conditioner so just plain mower needed or do I go the disc mower route? More to go wrong etc plenty choice and obviously very popular

PZ four drums were great until they chew the gears up then they’re scrap!

Straight belt driven disc mowers are best because they slip the belts before snapping shafts and the likes, have over the years done thousands of acres with Kuhn straight cut mowers without any bother only wear.

Wouldn’t like to think I was going back to belts now

Any of the disc mowers are reliable, they’re as simple as a drum mower if not more simple. One gear drives another. More features on them than drum mowers to protect the bed and gears. Any of the main brands will do the job. Kuhn spares are known for being pricey but who’s parts don’t cost an arms and a leg now days.

Have a look at Pottinger. My old rear mower is 7 years old, done 500 acre ish a year and is still in good nick, no bed problems. They also do drum mowers I think, and spares are reasonable.
