Is anyone on here particularly affected by the planned new grid system? Big spread in the MoS about it in the prettier areas of the country, are they not being very thoughtful of positioning the pylons re houses etc?
I agree with power lines, but I think water turbines would be better than wind, and you aint going to get me living in a cave im to accustomed to my palace now.anyone who objects to new power lines or wind turbines should be forcefully ejected from their house and made to live in a cave with 2 sticks to rub together,
We're being affected because the 'good' people of Powys are objecting to the proposed new power lines coming in from the Oswestry area towards Newtown. Our hill land is in the Tan 8 area where the Welsh Govt favour windfarm development but without power lines to take the power away we're f***ed !Is anyone on here particularly affected by the planned new grid system? if you have an empty belly you have only one problem in the world,if you have a fully belly you worry about every problem in the world.i detest nimbys with a passion they are the lowest form of life on the planet.I agree with power lines, but I think water turbines would be better than wind, and you aint going to get me living in a cave im to accustomed to my palace now.
Loads of places in Scotland then there is the lakedistrict and every town is built near a river, ive never been to wales but I bet there is a lot of potential there as wellWater turbines are great, if you have enough, valleys to flood to feed them
There is very few areas of England with power to run anything but domestic turbines.
The average water mill was about 10 - 20 horsepower ie 7.5 - 15 Kw

Sadly we do not have the volumes and or the height to get any realistic hydro power.Loads of places in Scotland then there is the lakedistrict and every town is built near a river, ive never been to wales but I bet there is a lot of potential there as well

Good opportunity for us on the right side of the border to sell you some expensive electricity then !!Sadly we do not have the volumes and or the height to get any realistic hydro power.
The water from Wales to the English cities only has enough power to drive itself to its destination.
And we know how keen the Welsh are, on flooding Welsh valleys to Feed England with water yet alone Electricity
I think it is Y Fan Wen who knows the figures
All them old mills in Lancashire could surley churn a bit of juice out, if a water wheel used to power tham huge mills surley they could turn a turbine ? every river in the uk could have several turbines on it.We have a few redundant mills now kitting out with hydro, always lots of water falling in lancs.
Yes SSE are keen to go ahead with a huge windfarm in our area but without powerlines it's dead in the water.@GTB so you actually need the new lines to come closer to your ground to make turbines viable? If it's a favoured area for the turbines surely that should be a given
