Yeah nah. BPR do everything that is on the new one anyway........and cheaper........just think the JD closing wheels might have been a better option.....they will be available here eventually after they have sold all their existing stock of 90 series stuff here. When I asked for a price on the new closing wheels, no one knew a thing about them in the dealership.....at all.....and nothing showed up on their parts lists.
Don't BPR do similar closing wheels ?
But yes, you are right. There is so much aftermarket stuff both in the US & here for JD single discs & MaxEmerge units, why would you bother with the expense & the pants down experience of going OEM ?

I have to say there is some superb engineering with some of the aftermarket sales products.

How worn do you let your Guttlers get before changing them?

What is the spare parts number for the new Pro Series openers and spoked gauge wheels?

I don’t think they’re on the uk system yet, if you want the new pro series boot, press wheels and gauge wheels you’d be best to wait until they become available as an upgrade kit. The pro series boot part number is A109343 for LH and A109344 for RH. You’ll need AA93793, flag pin and R557817 screw to go with those. The seed tab A105410 and N283976, N10216 nut and screw are also required. I think the new press wheel is AA88056 ( don’t hold me to it ) and the new closing wheel is A105391 or N105392 though I can’t work out why they are handed.

Is the spoked gauge wheel, AA98187? Will it fit with the old bolt and shims?

AA98187 is a spoked gauge wheel but whether they have the new thicker lip tyre on yet I wouldn’t know. I’ve put in a request for the part number for the new tyre so will let you know when I do. You can use the same bolt on all the gauge wheels, even the narrow ones.

yeah, there is a huge aftermarket industry for planter parts in the US & to a lesser extent Australia. These wheels will retrofit a huge range of planters, both single disc & double disc styles, for a variety of manufacturers, JD, Kinze, Abati etc etc . The wheel / tyre / bearing size is pretty standard, definitely not exclusive to JD . Spoked wheels are ok, but if you want a REAL improvement, get some with a steel scraper ring on the gauge wheel tyre - it is game changing, particularly in wet / sticky conditions. If you want some, try some of the US or Oz websites for different wheels & many other parts, or Oz sites for the scraper rings ( the yanks don't seem to have embraced them yet )

Anyone had a price yet for the retrofit pro series opener ? Aparently can be bought in pairs and replace as a unit to the main frame. Asked 2 dealers nearby but not got a costing yet.

You can get the whole system to just bolt on and replace everything up to new spec. ours is 200 model so bits of wear on all parts adds up to a lot of slop, also still on old style split boot so just want to bring it up to date.

If your drill has the two piece boot ( 60 series ) then the pro series boot, flexible press wheel and obviously the gauge wheel can all be fitted to your opener. Apart from those you would just have to change a few bushes, the new pro series ones don’t need greasing, like yours. It would be an interesting calculation whether the whole unit is cheaper than rebuilding it and as has been said above it might cost less to trade it for a new one.

Afternoon Simon,
Hope you are well, when i spoke to the JD men at CropTec they gave the impression it would be around £1000 per unit, in pairs. at 24k still a lot cheaper than a new drill.
