Really keen to get insight from female farmers for this survey, see full details below:

We would like to invite you to participate in a short online survey study designed to investigate farmer thoughts and attitudes towards ATV riding and helmet wearing. We are a pair of researchers from the University of Aberdeen, School of Psychology (you can read more about our research here: https://research.abdn.ac.uk/applied-psych-hf/).

The study itself involves taking part in an online survey which should take no longer than 20 to 30mins to complete. The survey will include questions about ATV regulations, your thoughts on ATV safety and the use of PPE such as helmets. The survey is anonymous, and so we will not ask you for any potentially identifying information (such as your name). Any farmer, farm worker or contractor in the UK or Ireland is welcome to take part – you just need to be aged 18 or over and have used a sit astride ATV at some point for farming purposes.

For further information on the study, and to take part, just click this link to be taken directly to the survey: http://viis.abdn.ac.uk/snapwebhost/s.asp?k=160321339769
Kind regards,

Been driving bikes, trikes since time immemorial and quads for last 20 years virtually every day. A helmet is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. The only time it is useful is if on a windy day a branch blows off a tree or your eyesight is so poor you don't see an overhanging branch.
In OZ it is illegal to sell a quad without a rollbar so I am told.
I advise anyone I know who buys their kid a quad or motorbike to fit either a rollbar or a solid mast above head height on the vehicle.
The major problem is when it rolls, ask Ozzie Osbourne?
When 350kg lands on you a head injury is only a small part of the problem.
Also ask the parents of the boy who drove his little quad under a cow and broke his neck.
Don't know who the lobbyists were in our House of Corruption but they quashed the rollbar idea sharpish.
