A new online seed store offering rapid ordering and delivery of a wide range of crops has been launched by Gleadell Agriculture.

Developed in time for the 2016 season, the Gleadell small seed website includes over 60 different game cover, greening and environmental crops as well as grasses and forage, says the company’s seeds manager Chris Guest.

Purchasing takes just a few clicks and orders will be delivered promptly, normally within 48 hours.

The website contains a brief description of each product on offer and its key roles. There is also a crop selector table providing information such as pack size, crop purpose (cover, feed or nectar), utilisation period and crop duration, as well as agronomy notes on seed dates and rates and fertiliser requirements.

Game cover is available as mixtures and straights, says Mr Guest. “We have improved our range of varieties and formulated mixes and are offering almost 50 different combinations to ensure all shoot managers can achieve the best from their cover crops.”

Gleadell’s greening and environmental options include a range of cover crops to rebuild fertility, improve soil structure and control pests. Numerous stewardship grass and wildflower mixtures are also available.

“It’s likely that many of these options will be compatible with the next Countryside Stewardship scheme in 2016,” says Mr Guest.

The grass seeds offering includes a range of short, medium and long-term leys as well as specific haylage and silage mixes and equine leys. Forage crops include rape, kale, fodder beet, stubble turnips and root mixtures.

Customers can place their orders in the office or the field. “Provided they can get an internet signal, purchasers can access the site from desktop, tablet or smart phone as the website will automatically configure to the type of device being used,” says Mr Guest.

“Customers can pay by debit or credit card, so our small seeds offering is entirely accessible to new customers, while our current customer base can access this easy-to-use system and pay by account.”

Looks good. Would it be worth showing an indication of what size area the packs will cover. I just looked at the dwarf Sorghum pack at 10kg, but I wouldn't know if this was enough for 1ac or 5 ac? Or have I missed that bit?

Copied from the page:

Dwarf Sorghum has a short, sturdy, broad-leaved stem and a substantial seed-head, providing birds with warm cover throughout the shooting season. Often sown as a companion to maize with the bulkier, shorter sorghum plants giving protection to the birds below the taller growing maize plants.

Average height 1 - 1.25m.

Sowing Rate - 20kg/ha
