With scrap prices getting lower and lower, will the price of new steel come down, or, has it started already?
don't think it will come down any more as demand is quite good and in world wide recession a lot of steel making capacity was lost or cut back so not a big over supply or capacity when you look at some things steel as still good value for money sample prices beams and heavy sections £480 ton flats angles ect £460 /£475 hollow sections £560/580 do not use any plat so don't know the price of this but don't expect any reductions in finish product as many price increases have been absorbed in the pastWith scrap prices getting lower and lower, will the price of new steel come down, or, has it started already?

It is not only steel that has gone down and fuel, Is this the start of the deflation that some people are talking of and look at the shortages of some products, Is it because firms do not want to hold stocks as tomorrow it may be cheaperNew steel has been slowly going down over the last 9 months - typical sections for sheds once bought at £550 to £600 per tonne the middle of last year are now below £485.
Tata have announced a price increase for May however I think this is more to stop the downward spiral than be implemented to stock holders.
The same can be said of steel based cladding sheets, over 10% reduction in the last 12 trading months like for like.
fuel now moving up 48 today for red the lowest we paid is 40It is not only steel that has gone down and fuel, Is this the start of the deflation that some people are talking of and look at the shortages of some products, Is it because firms do not want to hold stocks as tomorrow it may be cheaper
