Are these selling in any numbers yet? Apart from one Demo 942 I photographed in the local dealers yard a year ago I haven't seen any.
Loads of the old shape 936s running round here but they appear to be rather smaller and lighter by comparison than the new machines..

The thing is next to nobody bought them in the UK before the 716 landed at Smithfield in 1998!! I knew of one chap out near steeple Bumstead, Essex who had an original 818 back in the early 90s and another farm in Feltwell who had an 824 or similar around the same time. Basically big Fendts used to be as rare as hens teeth!!

Back to today, Will some farmers bulk at the extra weight and size of the new 936 for example now their the same size as a JD 8 series?? Will the forthcoming 800s be bigger, maybe nearer the old 900 size...……….maybe a mooted 833 might be the go to for some existing 900 users?

Thing is there still nowhere near the weight of an 8r which sit nearer 14-15t mark which is still nearly 3+t heavier then 11.5t new Fendt 900’s.

Your neck of the woods maybe, but in this area by 1998 fendts were more commen than JDs, we got our first in 1986, we had 3 by 94.
Still the same today

I was having a similar conversation with my manager a few weeks ago. The 936 is a perfect allrounder where the 8r is a heavy draught tractor, big heavy and clumsy perfect for lugging where the 936 does some things well and the rest very well

Im very surprised as the new 900s are way bigger than the old ones. Heres a pic of a new 942 with an older style 939 two machines to the left.

Well I think the 942s are specced on bigger tyres and the cab sits taller above the bonnet, but regardless its a hell of a tractor. I suspect that our local dealer shifted a lot of the old shape 936/939s within the last 18 months so not many customers looking to change to the new machines just yet.

Doesn't the bonnet on them start quite narrow against the cab but widen significantly toward the nose? Present 900 series isn't so narrow at the waist? Or it an optical illusion.
