Is it brand new ? Are you wanting to give up farming ?
Yeah brand new, I'm 35 and I've lost the passion for farming and have basically given it up, I have always worked off the farm as well but only self employed. I started a new job in November and went employed start of Feb. Its the first year I haven't done any silage work, all I have done is 50 acres of big square hay and I can't say I enjoyed it that much, I have kind of enjoyed feeding cattle this week but I think that's more to do with having a new machine and it being the first time I've have off since November

What’s the job you do ? Good for you doing something else if your heart isn’t in it , to many hang about and end up with regrets .

if your earning 3 times as much driving a shovel then surely your dad needs to renegotiate with you significantly if he wants to keep you around? looks like the farm must be doing well financially (a lot better than mine anyway) to buy a machine like that, so the money must be there?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
