HZJURJ, HZJ or VDJ?
is that the only engine available where you are? do many people add turbos to them like they do on the older ones in aus?
Yes it’s the only engine. The odd person puts a turbo on but they aren’t really made for motorway travel. We have another that’s ten years old with 350,000 Kms on it with no engine issues the engines go on for years.is that the only engine available where you are? do many people add turbos to them like they do on the older ones in aus?
HZ and HD do seem to last for ever. Met a guy in aus a few years ago who had 2.5 million kms on an HDJ80, said he fits new injectors every 1.2 million km, and front axle rebuild every 400k kms. Boils my pi** when people try telling me how wonderfully reliable their landrover, navara, l200 etc is. I just wish the 79 series was available in the UK.Yes it’s the only engine. We always had a Landrover and a Landcruiser pickup. The Landrover was mine and the Landcruiser for the farm. The Landrover was a much better car to drive but the Landcruiser would go on forever despite the hammering it got although they’re rubbish in the wet. We now have Amaroks instead of LRs and they are just as good in mud but much nicer to drive.HZ and HD do seem to last for ever. £33,000 equivalentHow much does one of them set you back?
Need a bit to compensate for the vt, need a bit to compensate for modern hp being softer than old fashioned hp. Need a bit more to get to 50kph.Bit of a step up in power?

Reading tractordata a 7720vt would have been numb-er than the 6485dynashift.
Bottom line a 7722 would have been enough but I had a list of required spec which meant it was best to be flexible on the exact model.
