New toy day

On our biogas CHP (6 cyl MAN) we have been able to go from 1000 hours change with Mobil Pegasus 610 oil, only just getting by, to 1350 hours on Petro Canada Syntron CG40 (a cheaper oil!), which has paid off the cost of sampling. I think we might go further, but that pushes the interval on the other things done at the same time.
Using an extended sump rather than the original sump initially increased the interval from 500 to 1000 hours.
We have also changed from Mobil Pegasus on our 3 AD plants to Petro Canada Sentron - and also finding much greater run times. As a company we stock and can supply both oils at competitive prices. get in touch if you would like a quote. [email protected]

What jobs are you needing a shovel that size for? I kind of thought the new TM420ā€™s would have got rid of anyone buying anything smaller than a 419..?

Greenwaste shredding, its the only shovel of that size, with that much power to weight of any make, 420 and 419 are to big and heavy to move around with the shredder towed behind. Our 418 only just fits on the lorry and puts us right on the egde of legal for weight. Would love a bigger shovel but wouldn't make us anymore money.

It wasnā€™t a dig sorry if thatā€™s how it came across, it was just an observation looking at a 420 spec thinking it gets rid of smeller shovels (forgetting weight.)

Didn't take it as one, you right that size of shovel has fallen out of fashion. The old 412s and 414s were so popular back in the day, now you look silly clamping with anything less than a 435, don't know why maybe operators aren't as good as they used to be
A ā€˜standardā€™ forager getting very close to 1000hp I think has pushed people to need a big shovel to try and keep up.!
Guy I used to work for has 3 very large foragers now and reckons on maize on a big AD job they do a 18/20ton trailer was turning up at the pit on average every 2 minutes! Granted he always has two on the clamp but thatā€™s a far cry from back to the 412/414 days when an 8 row head was massive and a big forager was 600hp running with 12ton trailers.

Yeah I get it for that job, but I still think a 419 with a good operator would handle most single chopper outfits
