I'd be interested to know if you would buy one over an iw at the current price premium which is about 3.5k?

Definitely. Over a Nugent, i’d Have to look a bit more closely maybe.

I’d rather spend a bit more and have something that lasts, so I don’t need to change it in as soon. I’m looking to change the brake pads on my Gamic this winter, whereas the pads usually outlasted the Ifors we had in regular use at home.

The hydraulic deck really is a dream to use and I don’t think many would ever want to go back to steep, wobbly ramps again.

Thanks for that
Also do you think the 14 foot wheels on the outside is as good or better than a 12foot with the wheels underneath for cattle and sheep?

I’ll never have another one with wheels underneath, especially a 12’. They are inherently more unstable and get through tyres an awful lot faster.

The only advantage is that you can take the top off to use it as a flatbed, but how many times does anybody ever do that in reality? I can hire a flatbed for £30/day or, if I had regular use for one, have a separate trailer.

The other advantage is that when you see a tight gap and chance it, if the vehicle goes through, the wheels under neath trailer always does too..... not always the case with wheels on the outside :censored::whistle::oops:

What would be the rough value of a ten year old ifor 12x5 that looks like new, tyres like new, brakes and lights perfect? Neighbour's retiring and I like the trailer, don't want to insult him but don't want to overpay. Dealer wants 2800 for same model "been through the workshop" but would have done ten times the work

We got offered a decent deal to change our IW trailer that was I think 11 years old at the time. Swap old trailer and £2000 for a new one iirc. It worked out more or less that it cost us £200 a year to own and change for new. It needed new tyres, brakes, lights and one of the sheep hurdles was broken. It was going to cost us almost as much to do up the old one than change it or so we were told. IW trailers are almost a disposable item when it gets like that.
One good thing is with a new looking trailer your less likely to get stopped by vosa :censored:

If I were to drive so recklessly that I might try to 'chance it', I'd be worried about the 'wheels under' trailer flipping over with 2 cows inside......again.:censored::oops::facepalm:

You just need bigger balls to chance a gap with wheels on the outside.

Price up a new one and you’ll be surprised at how expensive the used ones are

Its a bit like going to buy fence posts do you want creosote and forget about that fence for most of your working life or do you want to be buying more green posts in 10-15 years.
I'd rather be refencing at 65 than 85....more optimistic that I might still be able to swing a hammer.

Thinking about getting a new livestock box, currently have a Graham Edwards there local which is a plus, but the decks are a bit numb. Thinking of ifor or nugent as a change what's people's thoughts?
Just wondering which trailer did you choose in the end? I’m looking at TA510 12f Ifor quoted £5500 with decks and fold front.

Not sorted one yet but thinking 14ft Graham edwards demount with standard wind away decks on 13 inch wheels. Thought about going to 12ft outboard and separate flatbed, but thinking a demount will utilise trailer more given the times we actually need a flatbed and even though 14ft takes a bit of towing it's nice to have enough length not to need decks most times.
