News Groups and other Security -- rant!

Hi, what is an occasional nuisance has cropped up again and it is infuriating! I am a member of a forestry group that I access and contribute to occasionally. My details are not accepted (wrong password, screen name, or an electronic blip or something) so I decide the solution is to register again.

I can't do that because "that email address is already in use" (yes, it's me!) or "that screen name is already in use". Yes, it's me again. Try to message a moderator and, of course, there is a similar security check! Aaagghhh!!!! What is the solution? Someone must know? I'm fed up with filling in on-line questionnaires, counting traffic signals, and having my application refused at the eleventh hour!

Having a similar problem with bank security.....that isn't really a security issue at all. But that's another matter. If I choose to leave my front door unlocked, that's my affair, not for some anonymous electron to decide I MUST lock it before I am allowed to get on with my life! Anyone know where I can go for anger counselling? Or better still, answer the question!

One factor security is a pita, I definitely don't want two and my banking app seems to have half a dozen.
These things are very efficient at keeping me out.

I take it you've tried the 'send a link to reset password to my email' type affair most of these site have?
I generally have multiple email accounts these days...
One for general spam/website sign ups, another for business accounts, another personal account, possibly another for shopping accounts.
That way you can just use another account, also can keep all the spammy type emails coming to 1 account.
