Next years shoot

What are other shoots doing in relation to next season ?
In many cases bit is a huge investment in birds and other costs with a potential no return. I don't think the early season will be open and even if it is the clients will be facing a huge restriction in income in many cases with profits, bonuses and share income cut, will shoot spend be a casualty ?

One of my wife’s clients have cancelled next years shoot.
They fear the guns may pay their deposit yet pull out at the end. So no poults being purchased.
The game keeper will be occupied with other duties on the estate.
A draconian measure but may be a sensible move.

No hope of any shoots next winter.

Vaccine wont be ready for at least 12 months, by the time they get enough to use on the elderly etc will be another 2/3 months at least, then it needs time to work.

NZ put out overnight that they will be going into full lockdown within days and people should prepare for it to last 2 years.

So if things are slightly lifted it will be at least 18 months before that happens.

For balance

In Devon/ Somerset yesterday confirmed cases went up by one in each county, there are 56 confirmed cases between the two county's out of a population of some 1.3 million...

Unfortunately I just cant see there being any shooting season. The game farms are not in in a position to produce much I would think the financial risk is too great. Let alone the country being in a state where we can meet on a shoot.

Without money you will end up with a lot more deaths.

Make no doubt, the economic fall out of this will be so bad if it goes on for 1/2 years that the deaths from the economic impact will be a lot more than the virus itself.
The virus will kill the elderly and others with underlying illness.
The economic crash will kill all ages of society and definitely an unintended consequence. I wonder if they'll put the deaths down to Corona or suicide since Corona will be the cause same as people now dying from Corona yet are suffering with an illness.

I know but they are helping money wise , it’s a nightmare

Will end up very little help in the end and the people that really need it wont get it.

And if this shutdown goes on for one/ two years there will be no businesses or jobs and they will have to bail out the country for years, no way they can do that in the longterm!

Yep I know its utter madness.

isolate the elderly/ ill people until a vaccine is ready and let the rest of use carry on with normal life ( with the 2 + meter rule etc )

I normally shoot 20 days per season but this year i have decided to pull out altogether. A very large percentage of guns fall into the vulnerable category and likewise the beaters. The guns can travel around independently but not so the beaters. The social side is perhaps more important than the shooting and that will be non existent. We are all taking a financial hit but the time to pull out is now before the costs escalate further. Life is going to be terribly boring I am afraid but I still have the will to live..
A number of shoots in my area seem to be going ahead at this stage and I sincerely hope that they do not regret it but I will look on with envy if it all pans out OK. Some are saying that the government cannot stop them going ahead and I have my doubts about that. Anyway it may not be down to the government by then.

If they can ban people from even going for a day out at the beach then they can certainly ban you from holding a shoot.

People don't seem to understand that you will have no rights to do anything without permission from the government before long from the looks of it.
