It's fine to point out the flaws of SFI but requesting it is limited per farm given that is voluntary anyway is interesting.

Or reduce supply, greatly increase imports ... which do not have the same checks & balances that UK production has.
Which then puts the UK at the mercy of exporting countries

NFU don't understand basic anything. They are so far detatched from their supposed membership group that the membership have already left.
They exist in a world of their own imagination where they have importance and a say in national policy, a bit like us.

Be it RT, GFC or this, they should butt out of making business decisions for us and concentrate on working to protect it's farmer members interests from powerful commercial and lobby group interests.

But tell me of one option that really supports farmers that are producing. Take beans and oilseed rape for example. Tell me of one payment that will help me make a decent job of growing these crops? Direct drilling payment? Well it’s debatable if that will help priduction. No insecticide use? Well look where that’s got us : decimated by fleabeetle. There are no payments for production. Anybody who thinks there are doesn’t understand what production means.

The one thing that would help priduction here is a drainage grant or even payment for drains maintenance. That’s what we used BPS for here. That and shed repair. We could target it. They won’t entertain drainage grants now as they think it best to let it flood and ruin the soil. They are a joke TBH. An utter joke.

Yes I'm thinking that's one potential argument. As is the one about protecting tenants.

But that hasn't been specifically said that is the reason, the reason is apparently to maintain food production "support"
