NH round baler net knife

We keep an old NH 648 baler for our bit of straw, and my mate who's been driving it this year has had problems with the net cutting and came to the conclusion it could be the knife that's too blunt. Looking at it, the serrations feel very blunt to the touch, and also four or five of them are bent etc. Stupid question but is it meant to be a "sharp" knife or more of a "grab and rip" knife? If the former how is best to sharpen it - grinder etc? And how much? Cheers

The serrations on our 658 are blunt and it cuts/rips it fine.

More tension on the netwrap brake might help, our maybe adjusting the gap of the duckbill???

The serrated bit isn’t sharpened, the knife is between the serrations.
Undo the bolts that hold the serrated part and knife on and remove it give it a sharpen and and polish it up then refit. Also check the brake on the roll of net . It’s just like a piece of canvas folded around a bar over the roll, if it’s worn where it rubs on the net you may be able to remove it and turn it round that’s if it hasn’t already been done. You could also check that the springs are on at the ends of the brake pulling it down, I run with 2 springs at each end
