Guess that has well and truly put a stop to matches now? Although I note that BASC reckon that shooting will still go ahead, what a balls up.

How will anybody know how many are in a house if they live miles away from civilisation or down a quite road with no neighbor's,,they could be having a party and nobody would notice it .
Plenty of properties of the beaten track that you cant see from the road .

We will see what happens at the Hereford Charity match Saturday. Maybe get some info there. Luckily there is plenty of time to find out what the situation is before the Morville match in October.

Some team sports are to be allowed. would ploughing come under this?

from what I’ve read, amateur sports are allowed if they have a governing body.

are the sop a governing body??
May be they are in the governments eyes but from where I stand they have done nothing at all to to give guidelines to affiliated societies during the current pandemic. I shall be making a few phone calls next week to see how we stand to go ahead with the Morville match in October if things stay as they are.

To me it sounded like you could go anywhere that was covid safe. Cant I just keep a record of who comes to the house. Will even install a card machine if they want

Strikes me- that if something is for the sake of the economy: it can go ahead but if it's private cannot.
In other words: if by doing it you will pay some tax it's ok (ie more than six people can be in a pub etc) but if you want a private meeting where no tax is collected that's not alright.

If there really isn't any option to attend an actual match ,maybe you or a few of you could get together and enter the virtual ploughing match vplough ? , all the entry fees go to the nearest air ambulance to the entrant, there are cash prizes and all judged by experienced judges .For more information

I have mentioned this before to someone else. Apply for and a outside alcohol license for your field and then call the field a 'pup' and invite people to come to your 'pup' and then they can plough to their hearts content!

The SOP have no COVDID19 guidelines. In fact they said they didn't even have a risk assessment for ploughing that they could send to me when I asked a while ago.

Hereford is going ahead on Saturday.

Never been to a "pup" before, sounds fun!!!
Our society has offered zilch guidance or even attempted to. Look at what other societies clubs etc are doing for their sports.

The whole thing has turned in to a confused mess! The guidelines seem to change daily, there is a ferguson club ploughing event in our area apparently still pushing ahead but with the rule of 6 is this OK, are we a sport in government eyes or more of a social gathering? Society of ploughman's input seems to of been next to useles no guidance anywhere I can find
