Sowed a field on the 4th October one year and it took grand.

I’m in Mid Ulster,further south so nearer the equator. Semi tropical compared to north Antrim. Serious pineapples on the trees this year.

Last year he was sub £20/acre. Considering he sows it accurately,harrows it and rolls it , I couldn’t be arsed. Let’s me get on with the pineapple harvest.

Quite a bit of inch gravel. First time ploughed in at least 60 years. Was expecting lots of stones.

Potatoes dug on Wednesday, dung on Thursday, ploughed on Friday, grass seed today.

Went back to sowing with the spinner, I think you get better coverage than a drill and no waiting about hoping it doesn't rain.

I find the spinner too hard to set accurately and shredded the seeds so bought a wee wag tail for the job

Hard to believe there is as few stones as that in the foothills of slemish.
That's why I hate ploughing here, there's so many bloody stones. I swear they grow.

I'm a long way from slemish, but you just don't drag around a break here unless you've got a team of fresh young backs to stoop gathering stones. Power harrow has been a life saver. I once got a guy to drill barley with a Massey drill with disc coulters. Left it a flipping mess of stones on the surface.
