But the calendar says it's ok to spread so it's bound to be fine.

No. They also say you must also consider the conditions (common sense really, but they do need to spell it out for some people), including the near term forecast for rain. Yin ewe has obviously looked and knows what's coming. Which is why the rules also require us to have a minimum of an extra months storage, in order to be able to hold through wet spells on the shoulders of the closed period. There is really no need to spread on the 1st of February if the conditions aren't met. A bigger problem is a wet summer/backend.

So if thats the case why are they sticky about giving planning permission for new tanks if we are needin more storage?

All well and good having more storage , which I do think you can never have enough of but it can really catch people out getting into the backend of the summer and having 100000s of gallons to get out, takes a bit of managing to avoid that

Ok. I'm on your side here, but for the sake of argument, why do you need more storage? Did your farm avail of the grant in 2008?
That's a simplistic argument Agrarian. I put up a store in 2008 twice the size dard recommended, still not that big but main problem is dirty water. Silo run off, high ground behind, high water table , springs etc. Water appears from everywhere during a wet winter. Maybe you get it too handy.lol

Yes but that's fine if you can calculate it . I seem to be in the situation where the digger man says there is no answer. I can't store it but I have to divert it some way without spending a fortune.
