Considering May is spring, I think you could call it a fair summer in N Antrim. A summer with extremes - extreme dry, extreme heat, extreme rain, and yet it turned out pretty well for grassland. Ground now in the best shape I've ever seen it leaving August, set up for the back end. What could possibly go wrong?
What could go wrong is that we happen to be way under average rainfall for the year. We would need to average 150mm/month for the rest of the year to reach annual average on this farm. Hope not. The only bad month we've had was May.
We have had a number of fair seasons in a row now. At least four. Wonder when they will revert to mean (and go below).
