It's a total insult to the vast majority of farmers who are trying to prevent it.My local area is been wiped out by tb.Ask anyone about tb should it be Vets or Department and it's the usual bs of its complicated. It maybe but is but what's happening now can't go on.The studies of the causes of it are so one sided it's the same as everything else now, with an agenda .Pre movement test and a Badger cull will sort a lot of it out.Save the Badgers is the message but what about all the other animal species that are been decimated by the them as well as bovines and farmers mental well being.
Rant over.

So if compensation levels were lower. Do you think market prices would be lower ? Plus do you think farmers would do more to prevent their cattle catching TB ?
ie better bio security on the one hand and taking the law into their own hands on the other.
The farmers union had recently worked with Daera to come up with a way forward, partly industry funded which included control of wildlife vectors. Due to the "high" quality of DAERA's work this was ended with a judicial review. we're in an area which was traditionally low incidence but for the second time in 2 years all of our direct neighbours are restricted. The Depts answer is to keep doing the same thing & blame the farmer, that obviously isn't working. Reduced compensation will have an effect on values & will penalise those with "in demand" stock more than those with poor quality stock, particularly as outbreaks appear to be getting bigger.
Of course biosecurity plays a part but with fragmented farms & lots of conacre( annual rents) its difficult to completely remove cattle to cattle contact. Ours have minimal chance of cattle contact & we were a closed herd for 12 years until 2023 yet TB just gets more frequent.

Thought I'd put this here in case anyone doesn't know their processor's notice period. 2 years seems ridiculous to me
I expect they make you supply the barrel they have you over. Absolutely amazing.

And no mention of processor interference in proposed moves.
