Im reliably told that in '85 it was all over by this stage.

In '85 it took until October to settle I don't think it rained all month.I was just starting out and still used hay for feeding some stock I got a load of hay from Wexford (you had to go south of Dublin to get it) and it saved me but cost £3/bale! We've seen some bad years since,89 comes to mind but nothing comes close to '85. I know now with experience not to try to fight bad weather, take stock in to save the ground, feed big bales and wait!

Oceans of grass here but silo opened and cows in as making to much mess getting to it. Just take the hit and make a few extra bales when it dries.

Same here, cows haven't had grass since the last day of July, not worth destroying land over. Still a couple or three months of the year left for grazing, no point leaving it that you can't get on it until next summer.

2017 was a good summer here, although maybe a bit short if it doesn't pick up soon. 1998 was a lot worse. Zerograzing can be done between the showers within reason. My cows are eating dry grass the night but tomorrow night could be different. Wouldn't be spending big money for a catchy job though. Ballygreenan had the machine for the job. Maybe sold now...

Aye, you missed the boat on that one (pardon the pun!) sold to a man in England.
