Nozzle identification

Good afternoon,

Recently acquired a couple of sets of nozzles. Unsure as to what they are, if anyone could help identify and perhaps suggest a chart which may accompany them I’d be grateful.

The green ones are amistar nozzles but I am unsure if the pressure chart of green guardian air applies. Any help much appreciated. Many thanks.

The black & yellow ones on the left are old Hawk nozzles. They are quite a fine and angled outlet, prone to drift and blockages but very good at hitting small vertical targets like young blackgrass.

The blue AZ nozzles are Amistar/Guardian Air nozzles. They are low drift air induction 03 size with a 10 degree back angle designed to hit the back of the plant. I'd say the green stain is from a chemical...

I recommend that you jug test these before use, having cleaned them first!

I think the Hawk nozzles were only ever available in 03 size but my memory is pretty hazy as these haven't been sold for a years. They were superseded by the Defy nozzle, a much better nozzle.

On the amistar nozzles, should be able to read off the side what size. May need a magnifying glass depending on your eye sight . It will say AG 110 - 03 or 025 etc

Thankyou for the replies.

To add some context, I am currently running 025 FF, 025 guardian air, and 05 FF for higher water rates. My new sprayer has 5 nozzle bodies and wondered if the above pictured were any use to fill the other two slots if they offered something the forerunners didn’t if you see what I mean.

Can’t see for the life of me anything other than the amistar logo on these, I cleaned one to look like new and couldn’t make anything else out on it. I imagine my new GA 025 are it’s new equivalent.

Many thanks indeed,

Russell

The original Amistar nozzle in the picture are 025, they were the only ones available originally (around 2003) before colour coding of nozzles so use lilac chart (pink)

I would also question why would you want to use these nozzles that are quite old, hawk nozzle not been produced for almost 10 years now......how many acres have they done? If you are putting expensive chemical through them they need to be right

As I say, I already use 025 (pink) guardian airs as a forefront nozzle (new every year) so these replies have confirmed to me that the old amistar 025 pose no advantage to me.
The hawk nozzle was a mystery to me as I couldn’t find it anywhere on the web so I turned to the forum to avail myself of the specification and specific usage.

Again, as i said I was merely hoping to understand their qualities as another weapon in the armoury, but I see now that their use will be limited compared to new nozzle options.

That being said, if jug tests prove they’re in line, why should they be discarded? Old doesn’t mean we should automatically move onto new!

My ol’ fella always told me to “wear the old ones out first”
So I’m doing my best to wear him out!
