Ideally you want good coverage as although roundup is translocated, it is very slow going down the crop to the stems. Good coverage usually means fine spray, but a fine spray doesn't penetrate the canopy very far!

Keen or what!? Air intake low drift lilacs will do me, 140 l/ha, just don't skimp on the amega duo/ round up or what ever you use, 3l at least cus it doesn't work quite as well as it once did whatever water rate or nozzles you use. I like the larger droplets cus more get through the canopy and splash.

Blue guardian airs always work fine here. Dont forget to check the pH of your sprayer water and adjust as required. Add in AnS liquid / Blaze etc. And full rate roundup.

What are you using for desiccation? Glyphosate or Reglone? Reglone needs at least 200 l/ha as coverage needs to be good. Glyphosate only needs 100 l/ha water & 4 l/ha of 360 g/l to work best.

As Static says, water conditioner is essential if you have any kind of hardness in the water. Firebrand/Synchro ammonium sulphate works well & is cheap as chips. Spryte has podstick & drift retardent too. Compnaion Gold is the Rolls Royce product but costs more than the glyphosate. Branded Roundup products have their own wetters/conditioners in, plus are rainfast more quickly.

I use Amistar/Guardian Air nozzles at 100 l/ha with glyphosate.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
