I'd heard he wasn't well? Good to hear he's back at work if so.
He hasn't been but has started doing a few courses again now so he's well on the road to recovery.

I spent a evening with the lovely lady that runs NROSO last week - I mentioned this thread and that many felt the courses were a waste of time / money
They want them to be useful and good so she clearly was not happy to hear the feedback but pointed out unless people let them know they don't know there is a problem !
So best thing you can all do if you go on a course and feel it was a rip off or you learnt nothing is call or email NROSO and let them know, That way they can do sometime positive about it and make changes

Out of interest, how many other meetings through out the year would it take to go to, in order to get the required number of Nroso points?
If you really don't like the 10 point workshops, surely it wouldn't be too difficult to get the points by other means?
The NRoSO update course is run for the operatives, they are asked at the end of every years course what should be on the agenda for the following year, or at least what would they like to learn more about in 12 months time. Is it NRoSOs fault if the subject is not spot on. And come on if for most farming units you can keep upto date with NRoSO points by attending 1 meeting per year is that such a bad thing? One in Wiltshire at the beginning of the month.
I enjoy them. Bit of food, few coffees, bit of a chat. Makes a change from usual January morning at work.
I learnt at lot from them and been reminded of things that I perhaps have let slip over time.
Just seems a shame that they have a captive audience, who are there to get their 10 points, seems a great opportunity to really educate and re-educate spray operators and farmers. Knapsack maintenance and calibration is just such a waste of an opportunity.

so where do you get your 10points/year from then do you subscribe to magazines/news letters, go to shows or other events that all cost money to get to or subscribe to and take up a lot more time than half a day once a yearI refuse to attend a course that charges a fee.
Get my points elsewhere.
well you need 30 points over 3 years to still be a member so if you haven't got your points your membership will be null and voidI've never been asked for points , just nroso membership number .

Don't be lulled into a false sense of security: You will only be asked for proof of the 30 points at the end of three years.Still alive and kicking thanks .

I think we all do.You certainly wouldn't get 10 points at any one meeting.
I've never needed to do these one day wonder courses. I think operators would gain more knowledge from a spread of meetings than one day but for those who aren't too bothered these ones are ticking the right boxes.
The agronomy meetings I go to for all sorts of topics do the NRoSO requirements many times over. Never had any trouble meeting the 50 BASIS points each year either.
Is it just me or does anyone else frequently learn more from other people than from the person doing the talking at the front of the room?
