Those of you that are going it would be good to catch up and show you some sheep that have wool that has a value from a commercial meat breed.

I will be on the British Wool stand as part of the Fabulous Fibre Project.
Wool board should be more concerned about telling farmer suppliers why they cannot pay bugger all for wool and then pay 12 months in arrears whilst other buyers are paying 30/40ppk and pay within the week of collection @Frank-the-Wool instead of wasting time and money on fancy but pointless things like the Fabulous fibre project which pie in the sky grandstanding rubbish just being used to justify a few very highly paid jobs at the wool board.

Have you still not realised that British Wool do not buy your wool, they sort it & lot it up to sell steadily at auction over the next 12 months on your behalf? They cannot pay up front for your wool, as much of it isn’t sold for the best part of 12 months.

British Wool don’t buy our wool, they just sell it on our behalf.

If you think they have no value, ask some Irish fellas how much they get for their wool, sold to those same generous buyers, but without an auction system.
And close all the live marts and go dw only while you’re at it. It will have the same effect.

They used to pay soon after delivery they just started the 12 month delay some years ago

Selecting a breed of sheep that gives more lambs would be more rewarding than trying to get any money returned from the wool board
If a ewe produces even a modest 10/15% more lamb crop that would be worth far more than any wool. Plus what you sell as lambs is money that can’t be stolen by the wool board. They have already proved they need all of your wool money for themselves

@Frank-the-Wool is trying to improve the quality & hence the return for his wool.....if the rest of you who continuously whinge about the wool board put the same amount of effort into supporting people like him you might see some improvement
I'm going to pay him a visit on the stand
You can’t defend the indefensible. The breed of sheep many of us have is due to the geographical location and climate we farm in. The wool board have decided the value of the wool by being unable to control their costs. Not all of us are arsing about on arable land with sheep. Don’t make a fool of yourself
