Nursery shed.

I have an old barn that I use to hold any lame/sick/other sheep throughout the year. I then use it as a nursery pen at lambing. It's currently got a few inches of pretty dry muck in it. Can I get away with a thick layer of lime and deep straw or should I not be tight and shell out for a bobcat for the day....?

I ime and straw should be ok. Had my some lambs in side finishing on last year's lambing shed bedding, I just put lime and straw down, had no problems.

Unless you had health problems at lambing last year I would leave it and put some lime on. It will be more absorbent than if you mucked it out.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
