Position Available

For the first time in 5 years we have a 2ic/herd manager position available, this position is best suited to an experienced farmer(ideally 2-3years) looking to upskill to farm manger/leasee/equity partner position in the next few years, you would be running the farm side by side with the 50/50 sharemilker.
It is a 400-cow spilt calving high output/profit grass-based system achieving 550+kgsms with high fertility,
We are located in the rolling south Waikato, where we have similar seasons to south west England(winter is a bit kinder), we winter dry cows on fodder beet and grow chicory for the summer months, our summers are a generally warm and sunny with enough rain to keep grass growing(we grow 16to18t/dm).
We operate a highly goal driven farm that achieves high welfare for both cows and people. Hours over calving are generally no more than 50hrs/week with regular days off, the rest of the season is between 40-45hrs/week.
Our central location is ideal for exploring and adventures weather your into (or keen to get into) surfing, skiing, rafting, mountain biking, hunting, tramping or fishing its all here or getting involved with the most active young farmer region in the country(18-30 Waikato/bop) with 2 very active clubs with 20mins. We are central to popular holiday towns or Rotorua and Taupo (45min drive), Mount Ruapehu ski field (2hrs south), the world-famous raglan surf beach (1.5hrs west) and the pristine beach at Mount Maunganui less than an hour away. Plus, the local town of Tokoroa has loads of hugely active sports clubs and the awesome cougar park mountain bike park and all the Waikato river trails to explore.
Accommodation is provided on farm with a warm well-presented 2-bedroom house with competitive salary and regular time off. We generally run an 11on 3 off roster to ensure regular weekends off and over calving this can change to 8on2off if the successful candidate prefers.
This position is ideally suited to someone who is committed to coming to NZ for at least 1 year to get the full kiwi experience and a proper understanding of the farming system and how to apply this to a UK/Irish context.
This is a position where you will be working along side someone not just for someone that may not even be on the farm and in a location where you don’t need to choose between the prime farming country and having an awesome lifestyle you can have it all.
