Obscene amount of Remuneration

Charlene didn't set the price. Source the product. Market. Research. Invest. Hire. Speculate. Spend.

She picked up a tin, moved it sideways, put it down. People say it's the little gears that make the machine work, but little gears are a quid. The Machine is tens of thousands.

I hear you and not for one minute suggesting Charlene and Mr Fat Cat should get the same money. But Mr Fat Cat is paid to do a job and then when he does a job well he gets paid again. Now I know you can say this is what is needed to get the best people but at the end of the day only one person can be the "best".

Why does Mr Fat Cat need extra renumeration for doing his job he has been paid once for? Would he have done a job less well if he had not been paid? If its his own business then the argument is totally different but its not, its someone else's.
That's the pay structure. Who are we to complain? Is much different to overtime, or bonuses?

No one is irreplaceable and I don't really think anyone is such an out and out genius that they are irreplaceable, in whatever sphere of work or life. However brilliantly effective they may be even if it is Alex Ferguson, Adolf Hitler, Katie Price or Fred Goodwin.
indeed, but anyone you replace the replacement will want the same rate or they will not accept the job and why would they as they will get it else where.then of course there is the irony of farmers thinking it is is obscene to get paid that amount when the public think it is obscene for farmers to get a dole cheque for being a farmer.folks in glass houses shouldnt take the moral high ground when the ground is extremely shaky.

But arguably the money that has gone into the inflated pay structure could also go into the business' coffers as well instead to be redistributed within it.
Diluting it reduces it's effectiveness. That's a lesson that has been learned many times over.

Actually this insurance company does belong to us. It is a Mutual company and all of us who are insured with it in any way have have a share in the company.
Currently voting papers are out for the AGM on the 26th. June and if you feel strongly that director renumeration is too high vote against it

Do you think the renumeration is too low?
Sadly I do not have such a job, so sorry I can't agree with this.
Having known the director of a major UK PLC I find it difficult to believe that these posts are held by anyone who is superman.
That particular person would have problems driving a wheelbarrow, just hope. He does not read this forum:)
Except I do know that he is not up to using a computer!

So go and vote against the renumeration package.

I think recent events have proved Sir Alex WAS irreplaceable. The board at Man U knew what a great manager he was and rewarded him handsomely for it. Good leaders inspire the workforce and therefore produce results, sometimes above and beyond targets, therefore a bonus is appropriate as well as good basic renumeration. The mutual board seem to be performing so reward them.
I am not a Man U fan, nor do I think Hitler was in any way a good thing, ( he killed my grandad) but by jingo he did inspire an awful lot of people.
