I thought this old Radio Shack ad comparison was quite interesting , comparing with a smart phone . I don't even think it would need to even be a premium brand one now !

I've looked at the link you gave and it doesn't actually access the 27MHz band does it? Seems to just provide the push to talk facility. Or am I misunderstanding it?
