It may be just what we're wanting to see! I've been looking for photo's of past harvests, But it seems Camera use in this house was confined to births, christenings and weddings (n) the camera phone really is an historians dream come true! :snaphappy:
Here in most cases the only photos were using up the rest of the film after returning from holidays.

The stallion which my great grandfather used early 1900's when he was farming at Abercarn, Monmouthshire.

Horses really are not my thing at all, but I can appreciate magnificence when I see it! That first stallion is an awesome beast:cool: I bet he could have pulled a house down!

My great grandfather was a horseman for local land owner, not sure if can get any pics?

That horse with your Great Grandfather is one hell of a beast. I looked at that and it just struck me what breeding we lost with WW1 and the invention of tractors.
A magnificent photo, thank you for sharing.

Not a very good reproduction, The top one is me and my two horses, the bottom one is my grandfather and his two.
Mine would be mid 80's I guess, my coloured horse (pony really ) was a strong, determined animal that would do what I wanted him to do without me speaking a word. We worked together almost by telepathy which was pretty magical really. I am a great believer in talking to your horse when working but with him there was no need. In the pic I told him to stand still and that is what he is doing, nobody is holding him.
The Dales on the other hand was one of the dumbest creatures I have encountered, there is a good reason I am holding him. Nice horse, strong and exceptionally pretty to look at, just a bit dumb at times.

My grandfather told me those two horses were the only animals on the farm at the time of the pic. I think it was early '50's and foot and mouth had taken the rest.
The pics were taken on different farms, my Grandad would be Denbigh area where he worked at that time, mine is on my place where I live now.
