What ever Agco do with MF they must sort the reliability of the electrics , they have a good tractor but the electric components are utter rubbish . All our break downs are electrical , it has got to a point i am trying other brands.
Odd, because of all my tractors, apart from batteries and lights, the only electronic issue was a computer on the 5445 that failed after only a couple of hundred hours work. I'm mowing with the 2004 built 7490 today and the only issues with that have been a failed injector pump at around 5000 hours [Bosch] and a dodgy fan belt from the factory, which has been no bother since. Plus the original plastic fan cowling broke up and was replaced by a metal one. Oh and the PTO started playing up a while ago which was cured by replacing the control valve. A similar, almost identical valve, stuck on the transmission of the NH 8360 a couple of months ago but the particle was visible and removed and valve replaced with no parts needed. Current valves have a mesh filter as standard.

I did have a fairly long running issue with an amber warning light and fault code which turned out to be nothing more than a poorly seated transmission oil filter.

The 1994 Same has had a few mechanical issues, such as new silencers, a melted piston and bust cylinder and head, a hydraulic pump, but nothing electronic. The air-con packed up years ago and now the cab blower is dead, but apart from that, nothing.

It’s all about the lever. Or lack of it.
But its got a lever. A choice of two levers that can both do all the gear and range shifts for whichever hand is convenient. It is brilliant that way. Autodrive on the 'plough' side of that dial is fine also, including for on the road. It's the 'trailer' side that is best avoided, because it allows automatic shifting of ranges and the transmission declutches, so loses drive momentarily between ranges, which is not good for man nor beast. Not when you don't expect it or on either up or down hills.

Your probably correct.

The D6 may even be the better transmission but there is no question MF lost the day they killed off Dyna 32.

I'm sorry to say I disagree Dyna 32 was a good gearbox in it's day
But I know which box I'd take when working long hours for weeks at a time

Like I say, it probably is better. Point is it's got a fantastic spread of underlapping and over lapping ratio's that can be skipped over almost instantly.

It could be driven all day without using the clutch pedal too.

Advanced for its time but I know times change, just pointing out a lever done JD no harm.
