do you think someone who has the skills to undertake stress calcs, fluid flow calcs, generate 3d models ect, also has the skills to drive a tractor

I suspect theya re VERY few and far between who do
Actually quite a few farmer's children go to university and study all kinds of weird stuff like mathematics, physics, engineering and so on these days. They may well be very proficient at driving tractors, milking cows and feeding sows before they go and might even help at home on some of their days off from their full time jobs or businesses.
Not so few and far between. I know of several that have quite senior posts with engineering companies, wealth management companies, a tractor company or two, one even rising from being home on the farm to a farm salesman for a local dealer to a senior management post with a national tractor company in Australasia before becoming the senior executive for another major company covering the Southern Hemisphere.

It remains, those people are few and far between and of those people, how many then work for a tractor/ agrictultural machine manufacturer?
If it was a requirement that tractor "designers" spent a year or two driving them, you would end up with a large shortage and a lot of damaged machines. Furthermore, after a few years (10 at most) their tractor driving experience would be out of date. And in reality it is not practical for them to undertake CPD type activities driving tractors plus the entire range of machinery they work on. Yes, many do keep their hand in at the weekend, myself included.
I work in the rail industry and spend weekends and most holidays etc at the farm.
I have an engineer in my team who has almost zero practical experience. It does not mean he is unsuitable for the job though.

Fewer than used to from the UK, no doubt about it. The main reason being that New Holland is the only one apart from JCB that now has a UK manufacturing base and JCB is the only one that has design and engineering bases on this island as far as I know. So the opportunities for UK jobs at that level have reduced very drastically over the last three decades or more.
That engineer in your rail industry team may well not have practical experience, but you do and his replacement just might, or others with similar jobs might. Or they might not.

Obviously there are far more opportunities for design and engineering staff in the Continental tractor industry, where their factories are located. That's just how it is, and indeed MF are proud of the fact that many of their staff have a rural agricultural background. That is, in fact the case in many manufacturing industries and I remember it said that Nissan's UK factory and Mercedes' US factory favoured rural based recruits for their experience and work ethic. That doesn't mean prior experience in that particular industry of course, as you intimate.

Ha ha At 1.30 It’s the old series, plonkers!
Look good even more like the 2000 series than I imagined especially from back. Wonder why they went smaller cab with 3000 series?

There is videos on masseys website from different people involved with the project and speaking about the design process and ideas. Quite interesting to watch.

You’d have a valid point if Massey’s had a decent ride- fact is it’s always been very poor Compared to John Deere and Fendt

We’ve just had a few days with a 7718 exclusive spec, I assume this has the fancy optiride cab suspension. Well it was the polar opposite to our new Holland in the fact that the suspension wasn’t rock hard, infact it was rather wallowy and on the road felt horrible. Rocking about and pitching all over the place. It’s the only 50k tractor I’ve felt more happy at 40k in.

Infact, along with the dreadful wake up sequences and the datatronic which I never could get my head round. I was glad to see it gone.

The cab suspension is adjustable from the seat.

Id quite happily be converted to a dark green and red, I just can’t justify one :ROFLMAO: Local dealer said just the other day a new 720 power plus was £125k :(
But how much is a t7235 or whatever model with a standard 200 hp before boost with cvt and same spec gonna cost? Probably wont be much cheaper. Fendt probably has never been more affordable in terms of the price other brands are costin. Years ago fendt was alot more expensive compared to other brands but not now even though tgey stil hold the premium status over the rest

Bit more detailed video of them
The more I see of it the more stunning I think the design is. Also the transmission looks to have years of development potential in it to add more ratios and features as they are thought of. It is not only the cab design that impresses but novel features like the extra bulkhead between it and the engine, with a significant gap. Hopefully the new generation AGCO Power [Sisu] engines will also be significantly quieter and more economical than rivals and previous versions to go along with its superb low speed torque characteristics. No doubt there will soon be more news about both the engines and transmissions [and every other feature] well before they become generally available for delivery.
