Situation Vacant Organic block calving adventure

An award winning organic farm is looking for a young person who feels keen to experience a busy 2017 autumn block calving.
Starting 23rd September and finishing end of November 2017 (flexible if necessary)
Ideally some dairy farm experience required, but all new dairy farming entrants are welcome to apply and full training will be given if necessary.

The successful applicant will be part of a friendly farm team focused on a nine week calving block comprising of 120 Holstein Friesian cows.

We offer an in-depth learning experience to the highest standards possible. Focusing on the following:
Organic high yielding cow management with zero antibiotic use, practical cow calving procedures, fresh cow health, disease prevention, successful calf rearing and profitable calf management.

As a farm, we give back what we receive - enthusiastic and capable students will be rewarded with a very responsible and interesting placement to suit what they wish to learn.

Tidy farm with excellent modern facilities. Women in dairy approved.

Good quality, separate on farm accommodation with internet, DVD etc + delaval milking overalls + all food provided.
Remuneration by negotiation and performance.

Webinar: Expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive offer 2024 -26th Sept

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
