Organic slatted sheds

Organic slatted shed 50% rule

“Under this Regulation, a minimum 50% of the minimum internal floor area required for the animals must be of solid floor construction, and covered with straw or litter. The remainder of the floor is permitted to be of slatted construction, or of scraped non-strawed passages, or a combination of both.”

Just wondered if anyone had found an ingenious way around this? Either for sheep or cattle slats?

Could you build a shed like the ones in the photo and house ewes briefly prior to working on them say at scanning time?

Thanks

Those are fully slatted sheds... so fall foul of the 50% bedded restriction for "organic".

I don't really understand what you mean by 'get round this'.
They are dictating the shed spec for organic livestock... which is basically the same specs as a typical dairy cubicle shed (minus the actual cubicles)

Don’t know but they look cracking sheds!

If you'd made it across the Pentland Firth you could have had a proper look at them.
