Im trying to balance the two issues up! Has any body suffered clethodim damage to a crop of osr, blackgrass or clethodim damage?!
Which would be the lesser of two evils

I haven't used clethodim on osr. Is it still legal this late?

Looking at the bigger picture, wouldn't Crawler be a better investment? I think that the osr would grow away from any damage. Another set of blackgrass seed would cost you more IMO

Latest timing on Centuruion Max label is before the start of stem extension and 120 days before harvest so were about at the limit I would say.

This is possibly the worst blackgrass field we have on the farm, when you consider that we don't have anywhere near the blackgrass problem of those further south of us (Its coming though!).
It will get something! The clethodim was an Autumn recommendation (not been able to travel) with product in store so wanted to look at using it up rather than carrying it over!! Will have a look/ think about crawler, its not a product ive used a lot of!

You don't have long to get Crawler on (end of Feb). BG will be big by now so personally I'd carry over the clethodim, for resistance management if nothing else.

If I were you I would take another look at the label-do not apply after end of October and no Spring applications! But I may be wrong.
That is on C Max label btw.

All the problems I heard of were from later application of centurion max. I'd get crawler on, I've had good results from Feb application in the past.

You are more likely to kill the rape than the blackgrass. The October cut off is there for crop safety reasons.

I found the Nufarm label now that says not after the end of October, however the label I quoted was an inter farm label how old was this?? And why the difference in application timing!??

The first year it was out a lot got put on late, ended with very twisted stems and quite a yield knock I believe. I applied mine in October, in mix with kerb and had an amazing kill from the mix. The following year due to the late applications giving problems they also stopped mixes too.

This is probably way out but they were trialling it in peas and I have heard of it doing a job. There can't be a lot more sensitive than peas although it could be the growth stage that has a bigger impact?

Have been to our spray store this morning, its actually Standon Clethodim we have in stock, not that its getting applied after reading the above, and the label on that says before stem extension and 120 days pre harvest!!

Crawler being delivered this afternoon mind!!!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
