in a cranesbill/cleavers/Shepherds Purse situation is there any way of avoiding Katamaran Turbo? (don't talk about Clearfield, Arylex or how no-till avoids weeds) Anyone got any tricks up their sleeves?

Well if you don’t want to listen to any sensible advice you could always just grow a rape crop full of weeds. ;)

You could try Devrinol +/- clomazone BUT it's pre-em and you are pretty much stuffed for following crops if the OSR doesnt establish a high enough plant count.

enlighten me please.
Clearfield. not gone down this route as don't like drilling such a small amount of expensive seed. (not this year anyway)
Arylex. Not available in more than single can.
No-till. all my rape will be 750A or 15mm/Horsch CO drilled. no-till.
Still have cranesbill/cleavers/etc emerging so what to do???

Cranesbill - dimethenamid P
Cleavers - clomazone pre em only, quinmerac, picloram
Shepherd's Purse - clomazone pre em

Bifenox (Fox) has an EAMU for geranium species but is next to useless though does help knock charlock on a frost. It's Kat Turbo really.
Galera will do cleavers in spring but timing is hard as you can't use it until 1st March and cut off is bids visible which sometimes happens in Feb...
There's nothing available for these post em until Belkar (Arylex) gets approval next year.
Metazachlor will improve general broad leafed control but is not strong enough by itself. Needs to be pre em of the weeds really.

Belkar is now approved for use this autumn but only very small quantities available - think the approval for this autumn has caught DOW on the hop. I gather Frontier had some stock. And I spoke with a Hutchinson sales guy yesterday who said he had only very small amounts available and was under siege from his agronomist team for an allocation!

It was very much a tongue in cheek remark.
With the issues you have there is not much to beat Katamaran Turbo.
If you are overloaded on Matazacholr in the fields you could look at Tanaris+Teridox +/- Clomazone

Do many find metazachlor limits a pain? You can use 500 g/litre Sultan at 1.5 l/ha once with a loading of 1 kg/ha metazachlor over 3 years so even 1 year in 3 in osr shouldn't be a problem. I do clomazone pre em then follow up with Astrokerb later which is roughly the same money as a beefy clomazone + metazachlor + quinmerac pre em that holds the crop back followed up by straight generic propyzamide later.
