World wide it is being lost at an extremely high rate. Far quicker than it can be "made". Soil lost to erosion is gone forever from where it left and becomes a pollutant.

Well any number higher than 0 erosion is extremely high. Soil regeneration and carbon sequestration will vary between brittle and humid areas by a large amount. You want exact numbers, good luck.

That's very true, this whole landscape & these soils I'm looking at are a result of millennia of erosion & weathering

However, at times human behaviour can greatly exacerbate this & cause lots of damage & pollution to waterways, roads, fencing & other infrastructure, not to mention the loss of £££ worth of nutrients & topsoil from our fields.

Historically Australian farming has suffered severe soil erosion

Soil conservation / erosion control has been a major focus here ( even on flat country ) for at least 40 yrs I'm personally aware of, & longer . . .

Our high intensity storm rainfall doesn't help either
