Was on a Superg farm walk this week talking about over seeding grass and clover
It was interesting to see very little difference between the 3 plots on both farms. Control v slotseeding v rotor seeding. In terms of yields, protein or energy.
There was a rise in the energy and protein content of the 2 overseeded on the organic farm. But without drilling into the figures in depth it didn't look cost effective.
The rotor seeding on the conventional one did give a more palatable sward, but that then lead to overgrazing and weed ingress. The clover was the key to that, as the green square was easy to spot in the field.
The multispecies mixes added more yield in the drier years, the benefits of a mixed rooting depth and searching out that moisture.
I've tried to find the results on the website with no luck. They said they are going to email the slides to us all.
Always struggled with the idea of over seeding clover so jury's still out.
