I guess you missed the fact that one trick pony, one political strategy, Nigel Farage stood for election to Westminster seven times, and was rejected seven times by the electorate. Does that not tell you, that his political philosophy was of no interest to the people? They really weren’t in the least bit interested in his waffle.
Every time he stood for election the other parties piled every bit of cash & effort into making sure he wasn't getting elected & allowed into Westminster as they knew many people would agree with what he would had to say!

& yet the majority of voters agreed with him so they must have been a bit interested, compare him with useless Eustace & the other toadies now planning on destroying UK farming & allowing migrants flooding across the channel, do you really think he wouldn't be better standing up in parliament & asking the sort of questions we all ask?

That contradicts the opinion of many remainers who think that all leavers were led by the nose by Farage.

Funny how it was those in the centre left working class areas that swing it not the hard right. Anyone who thinks Boris is hard right has left their marbles in the rain too long, as for others having second thoughts, plenty are questioning the supremacy of eu courts even MB, personally I dont care if any others leave, good luck to the EU we are free of it, just need to sort out westminster now

Why is that odd? Who is it the Johnson government continues to court for support? It's pretty much the same tactic Trump used in telling the rust belt communes he would change things for the better and flung them a few dollars, whilst making sure his superrich mates continued to avoid taxes.

It was easy with Corbyn in opposition as middle England was never going to vote for him. Whether Starmer is the man to sweep him away remains to be seen. Or will the Conservatives reinvent themselves again and become the party of middle England once more. :scratchhead:

I am beginning to wonder I Brexit is the latest version of Godwins law.
I mean Patterson for all his failing was not as bad as Hitler, was he?
And he was fond of changing the rules to suit himself.....

Because the post I was responding to said it was the hard right that voted for brexit, I was pointing out it was many traditional labour seats that had the highest leave votes.

No it doesn't.

No matter what you think of UKIP or Farage, what it proves is that FPTP is an archaic voting system which leaves a huge amount of people feeling completely unrepresented and therefore apathetic about voting. There's more nuance than what the two big parties can offer and that needs to be represented by a modern, democratic process.

But in a system where you award Lordships (in 2021, really?!) for cash, then change for the better is highly unlikely.

Spot on. If my dog stood as the Conservative candidate, he would walk it in my neck of the woods.

Occasional blip seen at a general election like the 'Red Wall' crumbling last time, but that was more down to a combination of Corbyn not being a credible alternative, and the desire of many voters to get Brexit done.
Farage and Johnson were populist which in the age of Trump was literally all the rage - hopefully less fashionable now??

Just heard Jeremy Kyle, on Talk Radio, trying to interview Tarzan about the latest round of Tory sleaze and all he wanted to do was keep banging on about how Brexit is such a disaster.
And that, my friends, is why Bozo will be in power for the next ten years.

After more than 250 Conservative MPs voted for an overhaul of the Parliamentary standards process last week I find it very interesting that only 46 bothered to turn up to a debate about overhauling the Parliamentary standards process today..
and Boris tried to hide in a scanner!
And talk about try and hide from a question! !
Is this any way parliamentary!!!
