So picked up a really cheap Massey 135 as a winter project. The front of the bonnet is all dented up but apart from that is usable.

is the able to be beaten out and if so what pannel beating tools will I need? Or just cut my losses and find a better second hand one.

Panel beating has always been an art, sadly it's a skill that's dying out as the industry moves to a "replace it" mentality.

Buy yourself a cheap panel hammer & dolley set, a big tub of filler and get to work. It'll be extremely hard to get it right, if you can roughly get the lines right, a light coat of filler will give you the shape that's needed.

There's no harm in trying? You might even find you get it to a point where you're happy with it.

This comes to mind......

If you've got money to burn, buy a new aftermarket one, that way you'll get the right grille and headlights.

That's savable but I'd strip it all down and take it to a local recommended panel beater

I had a straight dent (like a V pointing inwards) in mine in the same place. Sent it off for something else (can't remember what) and it came back like new! Panel beater had done it without asking! Think I'd ask for recommendations and get it done professionally. The appreciation of these tractors is incredible. Better than money in the bank.
